JAIN MANDARS IN THARPARKAR AND NAGARPARKAR DESERTS OF PAKISTAN
These footages were filmed in the year 2000 when I was posted in the Geological Survey of Pakistan as Deputy Director (Admin.). While I was visiting the Thar Coal Field, then a project of the Federal Government, could not resist visiting old Jain Temples, located at different places in the desert. Later on, in the years 2012 and 2013 I decided to upload these videos after developing a small channel on YouTube.
Here, my request is to kindly ignore the amateurish nature of videography and extremely casual conversations with my co-travelers, Akram Niazi, a professional chemist, and our car driver Mohammad Sadiq along with few other locals.
I shall appreciate comments from the viewers. Have already been thankful to so many Jains who made nice comments on these YouTube videos.
My prime concern was to preserve whatever details I could, for eternity, till all of this gets eroded in due course of time. Since I am no more in Pakistan, I wish that this heritage remains conserved if not already crumbled mainly due to the Bhuj earthquake in 2001, which destroyed many old structures in Tharparkar Desert, as well.
